Snowy Blog
As forecasted, this week we saw the snow fall over New Bridge School. Snow is beautiful to look at but travelling in it is something else. We are always so mindful of the impact on our children and the disruption that snow brings. Friday was really icy, and our brilliant site team have made sure that our outside areas are snow and ice free.
Despite all the issues with the weather, we still continue to carry on and our students continually amazing us with their work and attitudes to learning.
I asked the staff to share some of the things they have been getting up to...
AB7
This week it was brilliant to see that AB7 accessed the bikes for the first time since September. The students were fantastic at following instructions and also burnt lots of energy! It was great fun!
AB8
One of our students has had a brilliant 2 weeks. He has been cooperating with work and engagement.
8JSW
Some amazing art work for Children in Need day last week. Well done, 8JSW!!!
Our PE team have been really busy too...
We are thrilled to announce that we have been honoured with the ‘Equal Access School 2024’ award by Barclays and The Football Association’s (FA) Girls’ Football Schools’ Partnership!
This recognition celebrates our school’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for girls in sport, especially football. This recognises the incredible work our PE team has put in to provide opportunities for girls equally within curriculum and extra-curricular PE.
The award, part of a nationwide initiative, recognises schools that have shown dedication to promoting girls’ football. Through inclusive programs, dedicated coaching, and an unwavering passion for sport, New Bridge School has become a leader in empowering young girls through football. We are committed to building on this success, giving more students the opportunity to get involved and develop their skills. By fostering an inclusive, supportive environment, we aim to inspire the next generation of female footballers and athletes across all sports
This week our sports leaders helped out in the local primary school Boccia festival, attended by 9 local primary schools to our ball hall. The primary schools rotated around lots of different boccia activities, led by our leaders. Dean the School Games Organiser commented how fantastic our students were leading their activities and working and communicating so confidently with all the pupils and staff who attended.
And finally, on Wednesday we had good day at Manchester City football ground. We won 7 games out 11 against students older than us. We even won one match by 6 goals (6-2) against Samuel Laycock side (sorry Helen and all at SLK). We really do have some talented students here.
Again - more outstanding work.
Finally, a massive congratulations to our Mal Daly who graduated at the University of Cumbria, alongside other graduates of Everyone Learning. We hope you had an amazing day.
So that’s it for another action-packed week.
Hope everyone is warm and safe this weekend.
Next week is parents evening and we are looking forward to opening our doors to families and carers.
Stay safe
