Pride Blog

This week has been an amazing week here at Roman Road and there are so many things to celebrate. It is certainly a week when we are exceptionally proud.

On Monday we welcomed our governors and our CEO, Clare John to the school. Our final meeting celebrated a massive year and our Chair of Governors Andrea Greenwood concluded the meeting with a summary of the school year.

This included how we had ‘taken students around the world' – from Disney to Chicago, to Haven in Wales. Andrea talked about how we had implemented lots of new initiatives from a new platform of assessment to our ‘3 Bees'. Impressively, the report mentioned how we share this information with families and this part is astonishing...

Social media – keeping parents and stakeholders informed of activities:

  • 118 Blogs across all 4 sites
  • 494 updates across all 4 sites including holiday club
  • 15 Chicago updates
  • 27 Disneyland Paris updates
  • 7 Haven updates

Thank you to all our governors for your on-going support and also to Andrea – who did a very impressive job of counting our blogs and posts and being an amazing Chair.

On Wednesday, Miss Cotton, Miss Ward and myself attended our first official New Bridge Parliament. The event brought together 4 school councils. The event was introduced by Ms Sarwar who brought of us together to celebrate the achievement of the last year, introduced the team and celebrated the successes. My Lyons opened the event and talked to us around how proud he felt and acknowledged how hard each council, and the associated staff had worked to make sure that student voice has been heard and acted upon – in each and every school within the 4 New Bridge Schools. Just amazing.

This week I’ve had a few ‘pop in’s ‘to my room. Leo – my Disney pal came to see me yesterday and spoke about his amazing week which included buddying, being kind to others in his class and to his class team, Miss Shaw and Mrs Begum. A lovely start to my day.

And this morning, Mrs Robinson and reps from her class came in to show (and sell me) some of the loom bands they had made for Pride. Again, a lovely start to the day.

Finally, our Pride Day began – with the entire school population walking around the school to music, colourful banners and then back to our Pride Summer fete, which was just extraordinary. Today has been a beautiful representation of what we are about at New Bridge – diversity, kindness, love and respect for each other. It really has been amazing and is always one of the highlights of our year. Our pictures – throughout the day on our socials have shown we really are PROUD to be us.

Mrs T's Blog (4.7.25)

I’m finishing this blog with a some beautiful lyrics, written by our very own Ebonie.

Have a fabulous weekend

Mrs T x

In a room where the laughter flies,

We’ve got bright hearts and smiling eyes,

Mrs. Holland leads the way,

Making every moment a fun-filled day!

We’re cooking up fun, we’re learning fast,

With Gracie, Maisie Ian — memories that last!

Tyrese, Logan, Jack, and Alfie too,

With me, Ebonie — yeah, we’re a brilliant crew!

Riding bikes, making pretzels, taking a swim,

In our class, the days are always a win!

We stir and bake, then dive right in,

Swimming like fish, we all love to grin.

Pedals turning, the wheels go round,

With friends like these, joy’s always found!

We’re cooking up fun, we’re learning fast,

With Gracie, Maisie — memories that last!

Tyrese, Logan, Jack, and Alfie too,

With me, Ebonie — yeah, we’re a brilliant crew!

Riding bikes, making pretzels, taking a swim,

In our class, the days are always a win!

(Bridge)

We help each other, laugh and play,

Together we shine in every way.

Mrs. Holland, you're the best, it's true,

This class is magic — through and through!

So here’s to us, the awesome team,

Living our days like a happy dream!

With kindness, fun, and learning each day,

Our class is the best — hip hip hooray!
