🎄 A Festive December at New Bridge Pathways

December has arrived and New Bridge Pathways is glowing with festive cheer. Our classrooms and communal spaces are beautifully decorated, creating a joyful atmosphere that the pupils are really enjoying.  It has been a busy week for our young people where there have been numerous educational visits happening.  These aren’t just trips out; these are visits that give pupils the chance to learn in real-life settings, build confidence and create memories beyond the classroom.

This week was especially exciting as our young people took part in the School Council elections. On Wednesday, I had the privilege of joining the weekly meeting where the new President and Vice President were announced. It was heart‑warming to see the encouragement and applause pupils gave each other.  This is a true reflection of the supportive community we’re building together.

A huge well done to everyone who put themselves forward for these important roles. Congratulations to Kyle, our new School Council President, and to Padraig, our Vice President.

We’re also continuing our collection of non‑perishable food items. Thank you so much to those who have already donated - your generosity makes a real difference. The final day for donations will be Friday 12th December.

The festive season is one of my favourite times of year, and we have lots of exciting activities planned. Please pop these important dates in your diary:

  •      Wednesday 10th December – Christmas Jumper and Christmas Dinner Day
  •      Tuesday 16th December – Christmas Markets (for pupils only)
  •      Friday 19th December – Non-uniform day and the last day of term

We’re looking forward to sharing these special moments with the pupils and making this December one to remember.

Have a lovely weekend

Community Living 2

This week in community Living 2 we looked at making animations using an app called Purple Mash. We looked at doing festive animations and a few experimented with a few of their own ideas.

We are really starting to get into the festive season now.

Power Up!

This past Thursday, both Digi classes headed out on an adventure to The Science and Industry museum to their Power Up exhibit! Everyone had a fantastic time playing on the games, which ranged from Pong (the first ever video game) all the way up to Spider-Man on the PS5. There was lots to look at, and just as many flashing lights and electronic sounds! We took the tram there and back, and everyone had a fantastic lunch at the Arndale food court to boot. I cannot decide who had more fun, the kids or us!

Class CL1 and CL3 Visit Oldham Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival

Classes CL1 and CL3 recently visited Oldham Parish Church to experience the annual Christmas Tree Festival. The church was filled with beautifully decorated trees, each designed by local schools, colleges, and charities. Our students loved exploring the creative and festive designs, sharing their favourites, and soaking up the holiday spirit. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate community creativity and enjoy a magical start to the Christmas season!

PE

This week in PE students from CL2 have been continuing to develop their skills and shot placement during a game situation within Boccia. The have been developing their understanding of backspin and how this can slow the ball down when it hits the ground. All students engaged in developing this skill and were beginning to be consistent when using the lob shot.

Digitall1 have been focusing on the fundamental skills of dribbling and passing of a football. The have really enjoyed playing the invasion game and all shown passion for football. All students developed their footwork and showed progress in the accuracy if their passing during drills and games.

Finally, CL5 have continued to develop their basketball skills. They have been increasing their awareness of passing and shooting techniques. A particular focus was utilising these skills in a conditioned game situation allowing all students to practice and build confidence, whilst engaging in a competitive situation.
