Pathways Blog - 15.5.26
This week was Pathways Parent’s Evening. I always look forward to welcoming families to the site to hear what their child has been up to. It is a perfect opportunity to show pupil progress and areas for development, but also is used to strengthen home/school partnerships. The evening was well attended by families, and we received some amazing feedback. I would like to take this opportunity to share some of the parent voice:
[My child] comes home talking about how much he is learning in Living Skills. He enjoys the lesson Life Skills for Adulthood.
Thank you for everything you do. [My child] loves school and genuinely looks forward to coming in every morning.
[My child] is happy and has made great progress. Especially in PE. Thank you to staff.
I am so proud at the progress that [my child] has made in English and Maths. He is much more confident.
[my child] asked me to say thank you for being her teacher. She hates taking anytime off school.
Listening to the feedback, we are also aware of areas of development, and we are looking at how to make the Parent Evening experience even more positive for families in the future
Enjoy your weekend, stay safe

Imperial War Museum
Community Living Pathways students in CL2, CL3 and CL5 enjoyed a visit to the Imperial War Museum North. Some students travelled by tram, others arrived on the school minibus.
Students explored a wide range of exhibitions, discovering stories, objects, and experiences from different times in history.
One of the highlights was the Big Picture Show. Students watched a powerful film about the important roles animals played during wartime, from brave carrier pigeons delivering messages, to war horses supporting soldiers on the front line.
The most popular area by far was Spies, Lies and Deception. Students had a brilliant time cracking codes, spotting hidden clues. Students tried on camouflage ponchos and attempted to “hide in plain sight” a definite highlight, with plenty of laughter along the way.
It was a day of learning, and hands-on fun — a visit the students won’t forget.

CL1
CL1 have had a brilliant week full of exciting experiences. We especially enjoyed our fantastic trip to the Science and Industry Museum, where the children explored a wide range of exhibits and showed great curiosity. They loved getting involved in all the practical activities, making it a fun and memorable learning experience for everyone. Well done, CL1!

PE
This week in PE, students have been developing their knowledge and understanding of Polybat, focusing on how to set up the game, play effectively, and take on officiating roles. They learned the rules and structure of the game, including how to organise equipment and ensure matches run smoothly.
Throughout the lessons, students practised a wide range of shots and serves, building both control and consistency. They worked on forehand and backhand techniques as well as improving their accuracy when serving. Through targeted drills, students also developed their ability to direct shots with purpose, placing the ball strategically to challenge their opponents.
As their confidence grew, students applied these skills in fast-paced game situations. They demonstrated increasing awareness of tactics, positioning, and decision-making during play. The competitive nature of Polybat meant that games were engaging and energetic, with students showing enthusiasm and teamwork. Overall, all students responded positively, enjoying the opportunity to learn a new and inclusive sport while continuing to improve their coordination and gameplay skills.
