Pathways Blog - 13.3.26
We started the week in beautiful sunshine and ended it in the rain, but the mood at New Bridge Pathways hasn’t dropped for a second.
I spent some time with Mr Banks and Mrs Anwer moderating the Digi pupils’ coursework and honestly, I was blown away. The effort our young people have put in really shows. It is evident how hard pupils have worked and how much pride they have taken in their portfolios. Their creativity, resilience and attention to detail truly shone through, making the moderation process a real pleasure.
Throughout the week, it’s been lovely to see pupils helping each other out, sharing ideas and celebrating one another’s achievements. Moments like these remind us just how strong and supportive our school community is.
With Mothering Sunday approaching, we have taken time to think about all the people who care for and support our pupils. For some, that’s their mum. For others, it might be a carer, a family member, or a close friend who’s always there for them. Whoever that special person is, thank you.
Have a wonderful weekend

Activ8
This week students within Activ8 1 have been working on developing their understanding of diet and nutrition theory, they have been focusing on food groups and how different foods have an effect on the body. They showed a lot of interest about their diet and potential changes they could make to have a healthy lifestyle.
Within their practical day the students have been continuing to work on their badminton skills; after developing their serves last week they have moved onto overhead clears and drop shots. There was lots of positive development in their technique with this being transferred into a game situation.

CL4
On Tuesday, this week, CL4 had a wonderful time watching ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ at the cinema. The aim of the trip was to practice managing emotions and social expectations in an unfamiliar environment. After the film, all students embedded their money management skills by ordering their lunch, paying and checking their change. As we ate, we also reviewed the film, chatting about the funniest and most ridiculous
parts of the film. We’d like to give a shoutout to Darcy, our server at McDonalds Sandbrook Park, who went above and beyond for our young people, making their trip very special.
CL4 were impeccably behaved and made me, Miss Atkinson and Mr Miah very proud!

Digi 2
Digi 2 has had a fantastic half term! Their WYJECK portfolios were completed ahead of schedule, so we had time for a fabulous school trip! We headed out to IKEA for our money management lessons and tried to build a desk set-up within a certain budget. We came home with a new-found understanding of just how expensive chairs are and four new stuffed shark friends!

CL5
CL5 have enjoyed a brilliant week exploring our Pathways Culture theme.
Using our map, we followed the Alexandra Park Trail and practised our left and right, showing excellent road‑sense awareness as we made our way safely around the park. A favourite moment was stepping into the conservatory, everyone loved warming up in the hothouse and taking a closer look at the plants.
After leaving the hothouse, we headed to the playground for plenty of fun on the swings, before finishing our visit with a relaxing drink in the café. A wonderful mix of exploring, learning, and enjoying time together.

Lumenus KS4 Pathway Workshop: Physical Theatre in Action!
The Lumenus KS4 students have had the opportunity to deliver a dynamic Physical Theatre workshop to students from CL3, as part of their Bronze arts Award accreditation. The workshop was held in the OTW space which enabled the students to access lighting and sound to enhance their workshop.
