Mrs T's Blog (8.5.26)

This week, my blog is dedicated to a former student, Adam McDermott. Adam joined us in year 7 and soon became a popular student with both his peers and staff.
Adam’s passion was sport. In particular football. And his first (and last love) was Oldham Athletic.
A season ticket holder before he came to us and an avid supported of Oldham.
Adam had a brilliant journey throughout his New Bridge journey.
In year 10 he joined Activ8 (we did have to explain Activ8 was more than just football...) and went onto represent school for football, cricket and rowing.
At the end of year 11 - Adam was voted Sports Personality of the Year. He nearly missed out on this award as him and his parents were leaving and I had to chase them back into school. It was an accolade that was fitting for Adam, as he was always willing  lead other and always there if someone needed help.
From the school, he went onto the College and from there Future Finders, where he was able to work in a variety of setting such as the Sports Centre, the Royal Oldham and in lots of work placement areas.
He gained Entry qualifications and his Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award.
I am sharing this with you today - because Adam made a massive impact on everyone he met. He really did believe that nothing was impossible and impossible was nothing, despite anything that came his way.
We are proud that New Bridge played a big part in his life and shaped the wonderful young man he turned into on the terraces of Boundary Park.
I think this is something that we all most take for granted, as we shape the lives of lots of young people - like Adam.
It's a privilege and an honour.
That's it for me
