Mrs T's Blog (2.5.25)

May is here at last and the sun has definitely come out ready for the start of summer one.

Our building has been incredibly hot this week and the students have responded brilliantly.

We have asked families and carers to send in sun lotion and hats and we have ensured our young people have been hydrated.

Can I please ask that Nivea sun lotion is not sent in as it contains nuts, and we have some students who have significant allergies to nut products.

Apart from the weather – we've had lots and lots of learning this week and, alongside senior staff we've been hearing from curriculum leads about the amazing teaching and learning in school.

Mr Garry spoke to us about the use of technology – in particularly the 3D printer which is so popular with so many students, from the design to the actual print, to the resources and sensory objects that have been produced.

Mrs Lenge talked about food studies and how she has introduced an assessment system of red, amber, green to assess understanding.

Mrs Robinson spoke about the next steps for literacy and how the school was going to drive reading (she even mentioned Macbeth – which was introduced last term).

Mr Jenkins informed us of the developments in PE, such as the MATP, the Set for Success and lots of links with the local sports community.

Miss Orgaki talked to us about humanities and the plans to drive the new curriculum (I was really excited about this – especially about the theme days).

And finally, Mr Rawstron talked about the plans for careers and developing links with local businesses.

A very busy Wednesday morning!

Eli's Award from the Mayor of Tameside

Eli has been attending an arts project called Theatre Tracks  for the last four years. He attended a presentation last night, and was awarded his Bronze award certificate by the Mayor of Tameside .

Eli has worked really hard to achieve this and he is so proud of himself. He has asked me to send the photo and asked if you could share it with school as a proud achievement of one of New Bridge’s pupils.

Next Friday we are celebrating VE Day and I can’t wait to see the amazing events that the students will be taking part in to remember the allies victory in the Second World War.

The school will be a ‘sea’ of red, white and blue.

That's it for me.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend.

Stay safe
