Learning Centre Blog (4.7.25)

One of my absolute favourite events of the year is our Leavers Record of achievement ceremony which took place on Tuesday at Smokies Park. This year was the first time we’ve took the event to an external venue, and I must say thank you to the team at Smokies for making it so special for our young people and their families.

To our families, thanks for joining us to celebrate the students’ achievements and journeys with us, this is definitely a partnership, only made possible by your continued support.

To our staff, thanks for all your hard work and dedication, you have nurtured, supported and encouraged our young people, enabling them to grow into the amazing people we saw, confidently stood at the front of the room.

To our amazing Learning Centre students, here are some words from my speech...

"Today is all about celebrating each and every one of you — our amazing and inspiring students.

You’ve learned, you’ve grown, and most importantly, you’ve shown us — every single day — what strength, kindness, friendship, determination, and joy really look like.

Leaving College can feel like a huge leap. We know change can be little scary. But please know this: you are not alone. You carry with you the love, support, and belief of everyone here — your teachers, your families, and your friends. We believe in you, and we always will.

Please remember, - You have already overcome so many challenges to get to this day, it’s been a true privilege watching you mature into the confident, caring and independent, young adults we see before us. Whatever path you take next — remember:

You are ready.

You are capable.

And you matter.

Today is not just a goodbye. It’s a celebration of all that you’ve achieved, and a warm, heartfelt see you soon. Because you’ll always be a part of the New Bridge family and we’ll always be cheering you on from afar. You’ve made us all so very proud of how far you’ve come.

Let’s now get excited for the Leavers prom next Friday at Oldham Athletic events centre, time to get glammed up and party!!"

Have a great weekend, all. Please enjoy the blog below from Mrs Keane.

CLAKE

This week has been a busy one!

Under the guidance of Miss Grimes, Zahra, Catherine and Caitlin made table decorations for the Record of Achievement. They did a great job, the centrepieces looked lovely.

In English this week, my groups have been learning how to make butter.

Each group read and followed a simple recipe:

Ingredients

Double cream

Equipment

A jar with a lid

A sieve

A bowl

Method

Pour the cream into the jar, until it’s about half full.

Put the lid on tightly.

Shake the jar until a lump starts to form in the jar. This could take up to 10 minutes.

Put the sieve over a bowl and pour the contents of the jar into the sieve.

The lump is butter, the liquid is buttermilk.

We had a lot of fun shaking the jar and the students had the chance to taste their butter at the end. Everyone liked it although it is unsalted and most students said they would like it salted.

Other seasonings can be added such as pepper or garlic.
