Learning Centre Blog (19.12.25)
Christmas blog...
We’ve finally made it through to the Christmas break; we’ve had a fun-filled couple of weeks. Last week saw our termly Creative arts showcase ‘Around the world’ which was a huge success, many thanks to Helen & Rebecca for pulling everything together, to the staff team who supported and our amazing students who shone!
On Friday we held our super learning day based focusing on ‘Giving & Gratitude’. There were lots of activities based on: Developing understanding of kindness and empathy/ Practicing communication and social interaction/ Engaging in creative and purposeful activities/ Contributing to the wider community. There was a lovely feel to the day, and our students showed their care and compassion for each other. Brilliant guys!
I also had the privilege of attending an afternoon tea with those students who had put themselves forward during the recent student council elections but were unsuccessful this round. The process couldn’t have happened without them. The serving student council reps served the refreshments, so thank you guys.
This week has been filled with Christmas events, On Wednesday we had an absolutely fabulous Christmas dinner, with many also dressed as elf’s!
Yesterday all the Learning Centre students took part in Mr Fennelly’s Christmas Crazies! Mr Dawson & Miss Rowe ran the interform curling competitions, Serib organised the pool competition ( I showed them how its done!).
This morning, we held our Christmas Film club and this afternoon students enjoyed a disco!
I’d like to finish with special thanks:
To our dedicated staff – thank you for your hard work, passion, and commitment to making the Learning Centre a place where every student can thrive. Your efforts truly make a difference every single day.
To our wonderful students – you have worked so hard, shown resilience, and brought joy and energy to our classrooms. We are so proud of all you have achieved this year.
And to our families – thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we create a strong community that nurtures learning and growth.
As we head into the Christmas break, I hope you all find time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments with loved ones. Wishing you a joyful Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. We look forward to welcoming you back in January for another exciting term!
Take care
Dawn
