Learning Centre Blog (15.5.26)
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve had the privilege of visiting a number of classes as part of our cycle of learning walks. Its been a real joy to observe our staff doing what they do best, delivering well-planned lessons, with energy, creativity and skill. The depth of our staffs understanding of student need has been obvious, the warmth and care they bring to the classroom could be felt in every lesson I visited. I sat in one lesson, feeling overwhelmed with emotion as I watched students who previously had been anxious an unsettled, sit relaxed, fully engaged and clearly enjoying their learning. I couldn’t be prouder of our amazing staff team, both deliverers and support staff who work together to enable all our students to thrive! Well done team Learning Centre.
I’m looking forward to more learning walks next week.
On Wednesday we welcomed parents and carers to our parents evening, its great to be able to share with families the journey our students have taken whilst at the Learning Centre. I was moved by the words on one year 14 father who said he was worried at first when his son came to the learning Centre in year 12, he was shy and nervous however he has done amazing and grown in confidence thanks to the Learning Centre.
We had invited several professionals & agencies to the LC parents evening including:
- Oldham careers service
- Rochdale gateway leisure
- Oldham college
- SEND Team family liaison lead
- Special school nursing team
- Community engagement officer
- Adults learning difficulties and autism manager
- Pure innovations
This provided families with the opportunity to ask questions directly and seek advice. Thank you to all those who supported.
On Monday 22nd May a welfare rights officer will be coming to speak to the parents and carers meeting. All families are welcome; the meeting will start at 2.00. Please contact John Barker for further information.
Well done to Miss Coughlan's class who have shared all their news within this week’s blog, a really productive week guys. Well done to you all.
Have a great weekend
Take care
Miss Allison
