Learning Centre Blog (12.9.25)
We’ve had a fantastic week at the Learning Centre with students embracing their new lessons and activities. I’ve loved reading this week’s blogs from Community Living 1 and IB. See below...
Bailey & Adain’s ‘revolting recipe’ looks disgusting, definitely won’t be trying that one guys! And really, Rhys, ‘Ear wax! Not to mention the many insect within Theo & Peters recipe ‘Dark Thunderstorm’. These were all produced as part of Roald Dahl day.
It great to see students within Miss Carter IB class settling so well and building relationships. They’ve definitely been busy: creating a Bee to represent our 3 B’s. ‘Be safe, Be respectful and Be ready to learn’, and learning about care words in English, Sorting in Maths. The class have also been getting creative, enjoying music therapy with the ‘Live Music Now’ team, and taking part in Dance & Drama with Rebecca from Act one.
Indeed, Rebecca has been equally impressed as seen in her own post.
“Raring to go for another year of delivering Performing Arts to the fabulous students here every Weds & Thurs!"
Rebecca now works with us two days a week and its fantastic that she’s working with students from all areas of the Learning Centre, I can’t wait our end of term showcase.
Please can I join in this time?
Have a great weekend everyone

CL1 Blog
This week has been a busy week of getting used to the different timetables and other changes that have been made.
Tomorrow is Roald Dahl Day, and we have been looking at different books that he has written. We decided as a group to focus upon The Twits and from the tricks played, we then produced our own revolting recipes. The students had great fun with this and some of their recipes left Mrs Twit’s recipe looking quite appetising.
The students were asked to prepare recipes individually or in pairs. I’m not sure if working with a partner led to more disgusting recipes. It certainly led to more fun and laughter! The worst ingredient in my opinion was the ear wax!
Over the next couple of weeks the students will be producing recipes for what makes a good friend.
I’m now looking forward to seeing what they produce in my final week here when they’ll linking their own Halloween recipes to the spell produced by the three witches in Macbeth!
