Proud of Our Start: Reflections on a Fantastic Return Back to College
As we conclude our first couple of days back at the College, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been an exceptionally positive and successful start to the new academic year. After the Summer break, it has been wonderful to see our College community reunited, with students and staff returning with enthusiasm, determination and a shared commitment to making this year one of achievement and growth.
From the moment our students arrived through the doors on Wednesday morning, there was a real sense of excitement and purpose across the Campus. Classrooms swiftly came to life with engaging learning activities, lively discussions and students eager to reconnect with their friends and the College staff. The atmosphere has been incredibly positive, with everyone embracing the opportunities that a new academic year brings.
I have been particularly impressed by the outstanding attitude demonstrated by our students. Their readiness to learn, excellent behaviour and respect for one another have set a strong foundation for the academic year ahead. Whether in lessons, around the College or during social/unstructured times, students have represented themselves and our College values with pride. It has been especially pleasing to welcome our new students, who have settled in remarkably well and have already become valued members of our college community.
Our staff have worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and successful return. Considerable preparation and modifications took place over the Summer to ensure classrooms, learning resources and College facilities were ready for students. Their dedication and commitment have helped create a calm, purposeful and supportive environment where every student can thrive.
The first week has also provided many opportunities beyond the curriculum. Students have been introduced to the wide range of enrichment we do here at the College. From fitness, music, gaming to calm art, there are countless ways for our students to become involved, develop new skills and pursue their interests. We strongly encourage all students to take advantage of these opportunities as they play an important role in personal development and help create memorable College experiences.
I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the newest members of our staff team. This week, we have welcomed Steven Giblin, Viktoria Vago, Darcey Griffin, Christopher Connely and Kelly Houghton. I am delighted that they have chosen to join our College community and they have certainly brought with them a wealth of experience, expertise, enthusiasm and fresh perspectives.
As Head of College, I am incredibly proud of how our College has come together during this week. The enthusiasm shown by students, the professionalism of staff and the support of families have all contributed to an excellent start. While there is much hard work ahead, there is also tremendous optimism about what can be achieved this year.
Thank you to everyone who has played a part in making our first week back such a success. I look forward to seeing our students continue to grow, achieve and flourish in the weeks and months ahead. Together, we have begun the year in the very best way and I am excited about all that lies ahead for New Bridge College.
