Merry Christmas!

It’s that time of the end of the term when there is very little more that can be said.

In that case, it just remains for me to say that I hope that all of our amazing students and our brilliant staff take time out with the important people in their lives to relax over the festive period and recharge ready for 2026!

I wish you all a very wonderful, enjoyable, safe and ‘Happy Christmas’.

Christmas Lunch at Billington’s

On Tuesday, students enjoyed a festive lunch at Billington’s Ballroom.

We held our annual table centrepiece competition and as you can see our students poured their creativity into crafting festive masterpieces!

Congratulations to Health and Social Care on winning the Centrepiece Competition! Your creativity and effort truly stood out winning the most staff and student votes.

A Massive Thank You!

We want to give a huge shout-out to our amazing college cook Becci and her wonderful assistant Jackie for putting together the most delicious Christmas buffet!

Becci, you always go above and beyond, providing the best buffets for every occasion and making our college dinners special every single day of the week, catering for everyone! Jackie, your support makes it all possible, and together you both bring joy (and incredible food!) to us all. We truly appreciate everything you both do — your hard work, your care, and of course, your fantastic cooking. Thank you for making our celebrations so memorable!

Health and Social Care Students Shine in Christmas Jumper Day Fundraiser!

This week, our incredible Health and Social Care students truly embodied the spirit of giving as they dedicated their time, energy, and creativity to support Save the Children through our annual Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser.

HSC

For weeks, the students have been hard at work behind the scenes—designing resources, planning activities, preparing festive activity packs, and spreading the word across campus. Their enthusiasm was contagious and their commitment to making a difference never wavered.

On the big day, they didn’t just turn up—they showed up. They served hot drinks, encouraged donations, and brought warmth and joy to everyone who passed by. Their teamwork and determination made the event a huge success.

We are thrilled to share that they raised an amazing £120 for Save the Children!

This achievement is a testament to their compassion and drive to support children around the world. Every penny raised helps transform lives—and our students played a vital part in that change.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and celebrated with us. Your generosity, combined with the students’ hard work, made this fundraiser truly special.

Thank you to Kayleigh, Kyra, Nikita, Maia and Katie for all their hard work!!!

Tinsel, Tunes and Teamwork: New Bridge Parliament’s Festive End of the Term Celebration

As the end of term approached and the festive season began to fill the college with cheer, the New Bridge Parliament hosted a Christmas end-of-term celebration for students across the college. The event marked the end of a busy and productive term in which parliament representatives worked hard to share student voice and plan ahead for the future of New Bridge College as we move into the new year.

On Monday afternoon, members of the New Bridge Parliament swapped meetings and note-taking for music, games, and festive decorations as they worked together to organise and host the celebration. All pathway groups were invited to join in, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to enjoy some seasonal fun and time together.

The event featured lively festive music, setting the tone for a relaxed and cheerful afternoon. Students enjoyed taking part in games with friends, competing for prizes, and sharing plenty of smiles along the way. Others chose to enjoy a selection of party treats while soaking up the atmosphere, proving that sometimes the best part of a party is good company and a good snack.

The New Bridge Parliament student representatives did a fantastic job hosting the event. Their teamwork, organisation, and enthusiasm helped the afternoon run smoothly and made sure all students felt welcome and included. It was clear that a lot of thought and effort went into planning the celebration, and it certainly paid off.

It was a pleasure to see so many students attending, laughing, and enjoying themselves together. The event highlighted the strong sense of community within New Bridge College and provided a positive and memorable way to end the term on a high note.

As we look ahead to 2026, there is much to look forward to, with exciting plans and opportunities still to come. We would like to thank the New Bridge Parliament for their continued commitment and hard work throughout the term.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and all the very best as we head into the new year.

All the best!

A Little Update from the Pre-Interns

Over the past couple of weeks in our learning for life lessons, our pre-interns have been buzzing with creativity and teamwork! Students worked collaboratively to mix and knead their own salt dough, learning the importance of measuring, following instructions, and sharing responsibilities.

Then the fun continued as we introduced clay. Students used their imagination to design and craft beautiful Christmas decorations. From stars and trees to unique ornaments, each piece reflected their individuality and festive spirit. This hands-on activity was not just about making decorations—it was about building skills in cooperation, creativity, and perseverance. The pride on their faces as they admired their finished pieces was the perfect way to celebrate the season!

And as we wrap up what is often the most challenging term of the year, each student received their very own recognition star to celebrate the incredible ways they have grown—both personally and academically. From building confidence and resilience to mastering new skills and pushing through obstacles in their work placements every star represents a unique journey of progress. It was a wonderful moment to pause and acknowledge everyone’s individual successes. But it wasn’t just the students who got recognition. Kurt loves to show appreciation for the staff who collaborates with him by ranking and rewarding positive behaviour with homemade certificates and plaques. Thank you, Kurt, for always making us smile and keeping us on our toes.

And from all of us in Pre-interns we would like to wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a restful new year.
