New Bridge Activ8 (KS4)

Leadership is a matter of having people look at you and gain confidence, seeing how you react. If you’re in control they’re in control.

Curriculum Vision

The aim of the Activ8 pathway is to give all students a broad and varied skill set they can use in further education, or the workplace.

Using sport as a vehicle to engage and deliver progressive sessions with employability skills at the heart of our teaching. We aim to create a welcoming environment for all students working at any ability level.

We challenge students to act, think and speak like those working in the Sport and Leisure industry. We strive to reach each student aspirational goal and offer them opportunities to access local community sporting facilities. Activ8 offers students opportunities to progress the skills learnt in KS3.

KS4 students focus on knowledge, rules and practical skills in sport, while the focus of KS5 students is to promote their independence and fundamental employability skills, which will be required in the workplace.

All students will be offered a differentiated, interesting and engaging curriculum to allow them to achieve their full potential. Students will be monitored and assessed throughout their time in Activ8 working towards accredited qualifications.

Activ8 at New Bridge School (KS4)

The Activ8 curriculum in KS4 runs over a 2-year period consisting of 8 lessons a week. In KS5 the 2-year course is delivered over 16 lessons per week, delivered by a specialist PE staff team.

We develop students’ skills by building leadership qualities and sport specific education in an inclusive and engaging environment. Teaching will be divided into specific areas working towards our main accredited qualifications.

Lessons take place in community sport facilities offering students a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Both theoretical and practical skills are delivered by staff and specialist external instructors, to ensure students receive a well-rounded understanding of sport and a healthy active lifestyle.
