CLTech1 CPR

Today in maths we have been looking at ‘Money’. We have looked at the value of money and the difference between ‘wanting and ‘needing’.

The class had some great ideas of what they would spend their money on.

This Friday morning CLTech got very festive and we started designing and making our Christmas decoratiions for the Christmas markets in a few weeks. We all got very sparkly and in the festive mood.

Mrs Newport’s Community Living Group have had a lovely couple of weeks in their Wednesday afternoon math lessons. Our topic this half term is measurements, and we first tackled converting mm to cm. This involved lots of ruler manipulation to measure various everyday objects and then multiplying the millimetre measurements by 10 to find the correct centimetres.

For the next two lessons; the students took turns estimating and measuring each other’s heads arms and height. Then they used their iPads to convert their measurements from centimetres into feet and inches. During the lessons; It was lovely to witness the students working and communicating together to help each other to find their measurements. Here is some feedback from the students themselves.

Damon “I think measurements is okay”

Mandi “I like using my calculator to do the harder maths”

Ibrahim “I try hard in maths and measurements is hard, but I liked measuring my arms”

For the rest of the term, we will continue to work on measurements, so, if you see our guys walking around the building with a trundle wheel and its organised chaos; It is all for investigating area and perimeter.
