February Half Term Blog
Well what a fabulous time everyone has had this week on our February half term holiday club. We had a bit of a rocky start to the week with the high winds grounding our minibuses so unfortunately our sporty groups trip to The Imperial War Museum had to be cancelled but this has been rearranged for the summer holidays instead. Those due to go on the trip had a fantastic day nonetheless with the bouncy castle, archery, relay races and giant badminton to name but a few of the replacement activities.
The Autism, EBase and Communication groups had a trip to the Interactive Learning Suite at the Learning Centre experiencing under the sea projections and lots of sensory experiences which they thoroughly enjoyed.
The art and craft group have been hard at work creating scented soap, bath bombs and candles along with fun games of bingo, hama beads, jewellery making, sand art, key ring making and cooking. They also had a trip to Turbary Woods Owl and Birds of Prey Centre which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The AB and EBase have had some lovely sensory experiences with Gelli baff, shaving foam, the hammock, bubble tubes, foot spa’s and water beads. They have enjoyed the fresh air, weather permitting, got sporty on the scooters, didi cars, space hoppers, bouncy castle and swimming.
The communication group have also enjoyed a sensory week with crackle foam, food play and water beads. They have made some chocolate brownies and bath bombs had massages and footspa’s and giggled down the corridors on the didi cars.
The IB classes have enjoyed parachute games, sensory music, got messy with shaving foam, gelli baff and paint. The students really enjoyed den making, foot spas and massages, sand art, water beads and crackle foam.
Our lovely sporty group managed a whole body work out each morning, swimming, tag rugby, scooters, football, giant badminton, dodgeball, circuit training and boccia to name just a few and of course the firm favourite bouncy castle.
Despite the high winds and snow we have all had a great time over the holidays. It is lovely to see the students laughing and giggling on the bouncy castle and didi cars and chilling out contentedly whilst having a massage or listening to sensory music. Students have engaged well in all activities and have made friends, played well with others and generally enjoyed themselves.
I personally really enjoy meeting all the parents on drop off and pick up when we can share with you what a lovely time your children have had.
I want to thanks all our full year staff who work tirelessly to ensure all your children have a fun, safe and enjoyable time in the holidays and all the term time staff who have requested to work, without your support we would not be able to offer such a wide and varied experience for all our young people.
I am now avidly planning for the Easter holidays where we can do it all over again. If you would like to book a place for your child on our Easter holiday club Look out for the ParentApp message which should be coming out this week.
I look forward to seeing you all again for the next one. If you would like to offer any suggestions or feedback from the February club I am sending out a feedback questionnaire via ParentApp, I would welcome your comments and suggestions to improve future clubs.
