New Bridge School

Year 11 concentrates on a number of areas.
Firstly that of becoming the oldest students in school and the need to act as positive role models for the other students. This is achieved by students taking on more responsibilities such as Sports Leaders where they help lead sporting activities for other students to access at break times, increasing the number of Buddies by undertaking training in wheelchair pushing, using a voting system to elect a representative to the Student Council, acting as monitors to various subject areas, having a Head Boy and Head Girl to represent the school at various events and helping with the making, presentation and delivery of catering to the numerous conferences for external bodies that take place throughout the year.
Secondly on the academic side focusing on making the most of their abilities to achieve the best they can in their final year. Final externally set examinations in various subjects are of prime importance and our results show that students are achieving well with these.
Thirdly in planning for their future and in transition to their chosen destination they work closely with school staff and Connextions to be able to make informed decisions about their lives. As the majority of students move on to the Learning Centre a planned transition program is used to help them with this move.
Finally our year 11 students represent their school at various Swimming Galas and Sporting events which take place in the North West and they have the opportunity to participate in productions organised through the year which take place in our purpose built theatre performing to sell out audiences.
