At New Bridge School we place great emphasis on equipping our learners with all the
necessary skills that are needed to function effectively in our technologically led
society. Student’s learn all the core elements of ICT and in addition can gain external
qualifications in both core ICT and creative and multi media options. We have 4
state of the art fully resourced ICT suites with technical support at all times.
ICT is taught as a discreet subject whereby learners acquire new skills, are formally assessed, can gain accreditation and regularly update their knowledge. In addition, in accordance with government guidelines ICT is delivered on a cross curricular basis and is used as a tool which enhances the learning process. There is a fully equipped computer suite. In addition we have a Apple Macintosh computer suite used for audio visual projects and graphic design. There are Apple computers, PC's and laptops available in each classroom. We have two portable trolleys, each with 13 laptops, that utilise wireless internet, network and printing technology. These give each pupil personal access to ICT without being in the designated ICT suite.
ICT provides a powerful resource to support and enhance all curriculum experiences. ICT equipment used can range from low tech tape recorders to "cutting edge" computers and peripheral equipment, for example, interactive white boards, touch screens and educational, assessment and leisure software. ICT is used to help all students, because needs are considered on an individual basis where each learners needs are met.
