New Bridge School Blog - 1.2.24

'Moving Blog '

Welcome back, everyone – here we are in Spring 2. This academic year has flown by and already we are at the halfway point.

I am writing this blog on the first day of March, Spring is just around the corner. This term is very short, and we have lots and lots of things to pack into the next month.

Monday began with our teacher training day. This is the day when we look at everything we've achieved and plan what’s next.

I met with our staff team to welcome them back to school and deliver updates, news and events that we are planning.

I was lucky enough to see some part of the training – including target setting with Mrs Birch Hall and Mrs Ball.

In addition, I managed to step into the MATP training which was working with our PE staff and other colleagues who incorporate physical movement into the school day.

I must say – I really enjoyed the training I observed, and it was interesting to learn about the Special Olympics being the background of the program and how it has ensured that all children and young people can take part, play and compete against their fellow peers, despite their need.

Training Day

To continue with the physical theme – Mr Drake and the IB staff took a group of students to the Chill Factore for some fun in the snow. I hope all readers of this blog enjoy the short clip of our very own Mo from IB1 enjoying his trip down the slopes. Brilliant stuff and really a brilliant example of how we are able to let our children and young people experience lots of activities in and out of school. Thanks for sharing.

Our other big news for this week is the move to the extension. This project is significantly behind schedule, due to lots of issues along the way. But finally on Tuesday – our doors opened, and we were able to move some of our key stage 3 main body groups and AB groups to the new provision.

When I visited the extension, the children were so excited and as the week has gone on, they ‘ve been telling me that finally they have lots of room and light in the classrooms.

At the end of the school day today – the children have told me they have loved this week and have settled really well. For our year 9 students – who seem to be growing by the day – they also feel that they are independent and enjoy their movement around the school.

Our AB students finally have the room they need, and we feel so proud in the way they have adapted to their new rooms and areas.

Extension

Week 1 is complete and already we are excited about what’s to come.

That’s it for me for this week.

Have a lovely weekend.

Stay safe.
