New Bridge Pathways Blog - 26.1.24

ICT

New Bridge Pathways has had a busy week in ICT this week and all students have been amazing!

We have had some classes taking apart a computer, looking at the different components and what they do.  Students have thoroughly enjoyed being hands on with the computer, working together as a team to try to rebuild it.

Mrs Patchett’s class have been using the BeeBots to give them instructions to make the Bees moves around a map.  It was lovely to see students working together, helping and supporting one another.  Well done guys!

Mrs Fennelly’s class have been looking at Frida Kahlo and using different filters to change their faces, students were using a device to record and take photos of their class mates.

Mr Fish’s class have been continuing with their programming unit where they have been using Scratch Jr and program blocks to make their characters move and speak.

Food Tech

n the kitchen this week we have done our first practical lesson of the term…. Pizza!! Some classes started their new topic ‘fake away’ last week by exploring some of the food available on our doorstep. We will be learning all about the factors affecting food choice whilst making some delicious and much healthier versions of some take away favourites throughout the term.

Our 1st floor classes have started their new topic ‘Lunch’ offering lots of opportunities to develop their spreading, mixing, chopping and slicing skills, they really impressed Mrs Newport this week with their knowledge of the eat well guide when making pizza baguettes.

Digi 2

This half term our unit in RSE is mental health. As part of that, DIGI 2 have been understanding what can promote good mental health and being outdoors was something we all agreed makes us happy.

We set each other a challenge and faced our fears by each having a go on the zip wire, I am so proud of everyone for doing this! At the park, there was also another school who were playing football, Zak and Ibrahim confidently asked to join in and they had a fantastic time. We all know how hard it can be to ask if you can join in and I was so impressed with their social skills! Thank you as always to Mr Miah for being the driver of the minibus…. DIGI 2 really appreciate you!

About Me - Lyndsey Devenport

"Hello everyone, my name is Lyndsey Devenport I joined New Bridge Pathways in November 2023 as part of the Admin Team. I have really enjoyed my first couple of months here getting to know the pupils and staff. I previously worked at a doctor’s surgery which was very stressful and not very enjoyable!!

A bit about me… I currently live at home in Shaw with my mum, dad, and boyfriend (with intentions to buy a house soon!). I have an older brother and two dogs a Frenchie and Dachshund (Frankie and Billy). Billy is six months old and a very naughty and cheeky lad and he chews anything in sight… you can’t take your eyes off him!"

I like to treat myself and have my nails and eye lashes done every two weeks, I can’t remember what I look like without these it’s been that long!! I enjoy going on holiday on sun holidays and city breaks. I went to Amsterdam on Boxing Day, just gone, and we had a ball and I’m going to Turkey in September for some sun!
