ICT Options

On Tuesday during ICT options, students are looking at websites. Last week we designed our websites and created mood boards and this week students began to use the software Serif Webplus to develop them. Students have created logos, a title and pages so far. Miss McMurray is very excited about seeing how their websites progress.

In our class, routine is very important to our pupils, and our Morning Routine plays a very important part in our learning.

Our morning routine consists of English, ’speaking and listening’ and maths, ’ number recognition.’

Our pupils will listen and answer questions around the weather, date, days, who’s next and on request choose their dinners.

Also, during our morning routine as part of English, Tohidul works hard to copy the day, date and relevant month.

We are very proud in how our pupils have shown a great improvement in their communication and listening skills following simple instructions.

Well done, everyone!

STEAM Blog

Our topic in STEAM this term is PLANTS.

We are learning about the different parts of plants and why each part is important and what they each provide.

We have been researching what a plant needs to grow and survive and how we care for them.

This week students have been busy planting sweet peas. They learnt about what equipment is needed, how to plant seeds and the importance of watering and placing them in the correct place to ensure they grow and survive.

Well done to everyone involved, we definitely have some budding gardeners amongst us.

Mr Newport

“Hi everyone,

My name is Stephen Newport. I have worked at New Bridge for the past eight years, largely as an Interactive Base teacher at the Learning Centre.

I have just started a  new role working as New Bridge’s ‘Assistive Technology Coordinator’. This just means I help to make sure that everyone can use the computers and communication devices. This might mean using special software, or using things like switches, adapted keyboards, eye-gaze devices or even just different settings on the iPads. I am just starting another Masters degree all about ‘Educational Assistive Technology’ to help me learn even more about this.

This has been an amazing new role, as I have always been really interested in computers (even building my own one at home!), and it has been great using this interest to help students here.

When I am not at work I really enjoy playing on my computer and painting. I also spend a lot of time playing different musical instruments (far too many for Mrs Newport’s liking) including the bass guitar and the cello. ”
