NBLC Blog - 22/3/24

This week’s blog has a decidedly creative feel, which as those of you who know me well will understand how art warms my soul!

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of spending the morning teaching in the GSCE Art & Design class. It’s been some time since I had the opportunity to be within the classroom in a teaching capacity and I have to admit I loved it, I loved the students' enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to their artwork. I was also able to share with them my absolute love of Art.

I thought I’d share a couple of my favourite art quotes...

Continuing with the creative theme, as part of last Friday’s Red Nose day activities, Tutor Groups were tasked with designing and producing a ‘Red Nose’ display, decoration or item. This week I had the unenviable task of announcing the winners. This was made even more difficult by the quality of entries and by the ‘good natured’ competitiveness between groups! (& that’s just the staff!)

This is me trying to come to a decision whilst judging!

Now to results. There were special mentions for the following 4 groups:

Miss Carter’s class for a very, large, fabulous nose, which was clearly a fully inclusive event involving all students as evidenced within their video, which looked a bit like a crime scene with all that splattered red paint!

Mr Blackman’s class for an amazing door display and very clever model which made me chuckle! (I’ll add it to my application for a new bus!)

And was beaten by Hamza.

Miss Kindon’s class for the best mixed media decorated nose and individualised student & staff characters.

After much deliberation, contemplation & cogitation, I was delighted to announce the overall winner was Miss Carter's Class. Huge well done to you all. Here’s to the next competition!

Thanks to Mrs Keane for this week's blog sharing everything her group have been up, just one question, where’s my Easter cake please?

Have a lovely weekend

Dawn
