Learning Centre Blog (1.3.24)

Hi everyone,

I’d like to welcome Shannon to the world of blog writing.

I’m very excited to hear all her news and views.

Student voice is an integral part of LC life and Shannon will give a unique insight into what’s going on from a student’s perspective.

Just be careful Shannon, that your blogs are better than mine!

"Hi...

I’d like to introduce myself as I have been elected to represent all the students at the Learning Centre as the student advocate.

My name is Shannon. I am in Year 13 and am in the Employability Group where I regularly attend Work Experience placements. I am also a communication champion at the Learning Centre. Look out for more about this in next week's blog.

I’ve helped at parents evening by showing parents around talking to them. I enjoyed this.

As the student advocate for the Learning Centre, I am hoping to set a shining example for others to follow by passing any exams I am put in for. I will try my best in all lessons even in those ones that are difficult.

I will always listen to students if they need help, I’m a good listener, I am friendly and approachable. students already come and talk to me.

I will be available for students if they need me, or if they have any worries. I will pass on any messages or concerns to Miss Allison and the student council.. In order to do this, I know you have to be able to listen, be available and be

I am looking forward to doing this role and am happy to help.

Thank you."

Shannon

This term we have covered a lot of different subjects, far too many to choose from, therefore we have asked the students what they have enjoyed the most, here are their replies...

"Being a skilled independent worker on Ipads ."

"Helping Val with the trollies ."

"Going out doing Forest Skills ."

"Maths, number work and Bingo ."

"Music with Ben ."

"Mental Health Week, chatting and having a brew. "

"Outdoor Ed with Mr T ."

"One of our new students likes the smaller environment and has made some nice new friends. "

"The sport option on Tuesday mornings. "

"Enjoys the LC, better than school because it is quieter. "

As you can see, they have enjoyed a variety of activities and are enjoying their time at the Learning Centre.
