Happy Half Term Blog

What a week!

We've had so many things happen in this last 5 days and I’m hoping to share some of them with you in my half term blog.

Pancake Day on Tuesday meant that school had a lovely smell coming from Mrs Lenge’s room and lots of students walking through the school holding their pancakes.

Wednesday was the day of love and there were lots of  Valentines cards and notes floating around the Roman Road campus.

Today – Friday has been so so busy. We ‘ve had the Wild Roadshow come into school and the children have been given the opportunity to meet lots of animals and creatures. Miss Anglin gave me the opportunity to meet a snake this morning – but unfortunately, I was busy (I’m really scared of snakes if I’m honest)...

Friday afternoon brought a local mega star into New Bridge (this seems becoming a regular occurrence for us). Our ex-student Zid (stage name Zeny Bux) alongside Mr Thompson and gang entertained the school for a fabulous celebration of learning assembly. I managed to catch the dress rehearsal on Wednesday. Mr Lyons and I joined online this afternoon, and the theatre was absolutely rocking.

We are so proud of the achievements of all our ex-students and everything they do – in whatever destination they find themselves in. We will definitely be inviting Zid back to perform in the summer months.

Next week the school is open to our holiday club and I’m really looking forward to seeing the pictures of our children getting up to lots of fun activities. Thank to Mrs Bingley and the team who support all our students in the club.

Even though we have finished school for half term, we are busy and over this break as we are moving classrooms into our extension. This has been long and big process for us and finally we will be moving our AB groups and some of our main body children into the new build. This week, children and staff have been walking over and getting familiar with new rooms and areas. The staff teams have worked really hard to ensure that this process has the easiest transition for our children – especially those who struggle with change and movement.

I think that’s about it. We are retuning on Tuesday 27th February as we are staff training on Monday.

A massive thanks goes out to my staff team for their hard work and support, making sure our children and young people get THE best offer. Please try to rest and recuperate, ready for the fun that the second half of the Spring term.

Hope everyone has a brilliant break.

Stay safe
